Canadian Importer of Record · Ontario

Foreign purchases.
Domestically invoiced.

Stork & Crane procures and imports goods on behalf of film and television productions, so your foreign purchases arrive with proper Canadian documentation.

Every foreign purchase your production makes arrives with a different invoice, a different vendor, and a question your accountant has to answer: Canadian or foreign? Stork & Crane consolidates it. One Canadian vendor. One invoice format. Every purchase coded consistently. Every price quoted in Canadian dollars before you commit.

The Problem

  • Foreign purchases from Amazon US, B&H, Adorama, and other US retailers produce foreign invoices, issued by companies outside Canada.
  • Amazon’s marketplace mixes Canadian and foreign sellers, and you can’t reliably tell where the invoice will come from until after you’ve paid.
  • Production accountants discover foreign-sourced invoices at audit time, too late to correct, too costly to ignore.
  • Researching every listing before purchasing is impractical. Nobody has time, and it still doesn’t guarantee the result.

The Solution

  • We purchase from foreign suppliers under our own accounts and import as Canadian importer of record with CBSA.
  • You receive a clean Canadian invoice from a Canadian company with unambiguous, audit-ready documentation.
  • Every request triggers a Canadian sourcing check first, logged and visible in your account for full transparency.
  • All customs documentation, B3 filings, and transaction records stored in your document vault, ready when your tax credit consultant needs them.

Our Process

What we actually do.

When you submit a request, this is what happens on our end. Not a summary. The actual steps.

01

Canadian sourcing check

We search for a Canadian supplier first, every time. The result is logged against your request: found or not found.

02

We place the order as the buyer

We purchase under our own business accounts. The foreign vendor’s invoice is addressed to Stork & Crane, not your production.

03

We take title and ownership

From the moment of purchase, we own the goods. We bear the risk of loss, damage, and supplier disputes, not you.

04

We file CBSA customs documentation

We file the B3 customs entry as importer of record. We pay the duties. This is the government document that records a genuine Canadian import.

05

We handle delivery

Goods are inspected on receipt and delivered or shipped to your production. Any issues with the foreign vendor are ours to resolve.

06

We issue a Canadian invoice

You receive an invoice from Stork & Crane, a Canadian company, with full landed cost breakdown and our service fee as a separate line item.

Every step is documented.
Every document is stored in your account and available for download.

Sourcing logs, customs entries, purchase orders, invoices. All in one place, ready when you need them.
